Does the new carton of fresh apple cider strategically placed front and center of the grocery store get you like it gets me? Every year this happens! I may or may not have bought 2 cartons but no one around here is mad about it cause well there are these apple cider brined pork chops and then this Apple Cider Maple Fizz Cocktail happening you see here.

I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how you bottle up happiness…

It’s fall friends! Full on fall and I’m excited about it…

Basically, you have fall on a plate with the pork chops, should you choose to make them (and you should make good choices) and fall in a glass with this slightly crisp cocktail. While that’s a whole lotta fall I can’t see it being wrong. Cause if it’s wrong I don’t wanna be right. Why? Because you know what makes a Friday night dinner at home a little more exciting? Cocktails! Fall cocktails! And fall cocktails are next level. Who doesn’t want to go to the next level?

This adult version of apple cider has a little kick, a little spark, a little fizz… Added bonus: when you ever so slightly warm the maple syrup with the apple cider and cinnamon sticks your house starts to smell like a candle store in the best possible way. Then by pouring this heavenly fall mixture over some bourbon on the rocks you’ve almost reached fall transcendence. Almost…! Lastly you’re going to top it off with a little splash of some ginger beer for that perfect fizz and enter a next level fall state.

I have a confession though… I don’t like bourbon… Can we still be friends? This cocktail works for me because really you can’t taste the bourbon. You could if you wanted to, if you’re of the bourbon-loving type (I swear I try), by just adding more. More is not for me, so you do you and add more bourbon if your heart desires it.

This drink is an easy mixture and an easy one to make look pretty so if you’re having chicken for dinner again (allow me to suggest a good chicken dinner if you will) and want to spice it up a bit or be prepared with a drink in hand for a much-needed Netflix marathon than this cocktail is for you.

P.S. It just occurred to me that this drink is the perfect fall “crisp.” Now that there’s the crisp weather outside (that’s so NOT happening in sweltering Charleston) this cocktail adds an extra crispness to your season. Like I said fall transcendence happens… It does.

Apple Cider Maple Fizz

  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Yield: 2 Cocktails

Description

Add crispness to your fall and mix up an Apple Cider Maple Fizz cocktail. A little fizz, a lotta apple flavor, with a hint of cinnamon all in one cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Apple Cider
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Bourbon
  • splash of Ginger Beer

Garnishes

  • Apple Slices
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Rosemary

Instructions

  1. In a medium pan over low heat, warm the Apple Cider and Maple Syrup until evenly mixed, about 3 minutes.
  2. If rimming the glass with sugar do this step next (see notes below). Fill each glass with ice and add the Bourbon. Pour the apple cider mixture on top of the bourbon, but leave room for the ginger beer. Add any preferred garnishes.
  3. Place a splash of the Ginger Beer on top of each cocktail to finish filling it to the glass rim.

Notes

If you want to rim the edge of the glass with sugar like I did then you can use any coarse sugar you prefer. I did a mixture of cane sugar and sugar crystals. Coat the edge of the glass with a lemon or water (the lemon works way better though) and then dip the glass into the sugar.

If you don’t like it you just don’t like it! There are people in the world who don’t like chocolate or ice cream either. I think they are crazy, but they do exist. 😉

This really is a nice fall cocktail.

    1. Why thank you Ben! The non-chocolate and non-ice cream loving people of the world just can’t be real… 😂 Parsnips I can get but chocolate?!?!

Aimee! I love this fall drink. Cider is one of my favorite things about fall (just ask the cider scented candle in my kitchen!!). Unfortunately, I’m staying away from alcoholic beverages right now (no problems or pregnancy, but the calories add up so fast!) but I’ll have to recommend this to my cider loving friends!

    1. Oh, Danielle, life can be so unfair when it comes to calories, right?!?! Well, I do have to say I did make one of these drinks up without the alcohol so my kids could enjoy some fall fun and it tastes good without, although not quite as fun, the bourbon.
