These No-Bake Butterscotch Pretzel Bars are easy to prepare and are perfecting for gift giving. It will be hard to actually give away these sweet and salty bars though with their irresistible taste.
How to make Butterscotch Pretzel Bars
These no-bake bars are extremely easy to make and best of all don’t require any kind of baking.
- Prep. Line a 9×13 baking tray with foil extending it over the sides. Coat with cooking spray.
- Crust Layer. In a large bowl mix the powdered sugar, peanut butter, and melted butter. Stir in 2 cups of the crushed pretzels. Using hands press the dough together to even out the mixture and then press firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Butterscotch Layer. In a medium saucepan melt the butterscotch chips with the evaporated milk, stirring continuously, until smooth. Use a spatula to evenly spread the butterscotch mixture on top of the pretzel layer.
- Top. Sprinkle the remaining crushed pretzels on top.
- Chill. Cover and chill for 2 hours. Gently pull the foil edges out of the baking sheet to remove. Using a sharp knife slice into squares.
Do I need to refrigerate these bars?
No. They are the perfect treat for sharing or giving as a gift. They are best stored in an air-tight container on the counter.
Can I freeze these bars?
No. Freezing these bars will cause the pretzel topping to become soft and mushy.

These are literally awful. I LOVE butterscotch and made a double batch, but they are nauseatingly sweet and way too soft. They went straight in the trash.
Hello Renee, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy these bars. They are sweet and soft with a little bit of crunch from the pretzels, which is actually what I like about them. Again, sorry these didn’t work out for you.
Easy enough for the kids to help and delicious! A must add to the holiday baking list!
