- 2 ounces Strawberry Simple Syrup recipe below
- 1/4 cup Lime Juice freshly squeezed
- 8 Fresh Basil Leaves
- 4 ounces Soda Water
Strawberry Simple Syrup
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 5 Strawberries hulled and sliced
Strawberry Simple Syrup Instructions
Place the water, sugar, and strawberries into a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir the ingredients until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Remove from the heat and cover, let sit for 5 minutes or until the ingredients have cooled.
Use a fork to mash the strawberries into the mixture and then strain it through a mesh sieve to remove any seeds or large pieces.
Cocktail
Pour the rum, simple syrup, lime juice, and basil leaves into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake the ingredients vigorously and then pour into two glasses filled with ice.
Add a splash of soda water on top and garnish with sliced strawberries and fresh basil leaves.
