Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Fresh Raspberries
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 ounces Rum
  • 1 ounce Lime Juice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Liqueur
  • Coarse Sugar for coating the rim

Instructions

  • Coat the rim of the glass. Wet the rim of your cocktail glass by running a lime wedge along the edge of the glass. Make sure to moisten the entire rim, but avoid getting any liquid inside the glass.
  • Dip the rim in the sugar. Take a small plate and pour a layer of sugar onto it that is slightly wider than the circumference of the glass. Dip it into the plate of sugar and rotate it gently until the entire rim is coated with sugar.
  • Muddle the raspberries. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the fresh raspberries and sugar until they are crushed and release their juice.
  • Add the ingredients. Add ice to the cocktail shaker, followed by the rum, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Shake the mixture vigorously for 10-15 seconds until the cocktail shaker is frosted. Strain the raspberry daiquiri mixture through a small mesh sieve into the prepared cocktail glass.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness: Try adding some Simple Syrup to increase the sweetness of this drink. The amount you use will depend on your personal preference for sweetness.
  • Use fresh ingredients: use fresh ingredients whenever possible, use fresh ingredients to make your Raspberry Daiquiri. This will give your cocktail a brighter and fresher taste than using frozen or canned fruit.
  • Experiment with different rums: While white rum is traditionally used in a Daiquiri, feel free to experiment with different types of rum to find the one that you like best. Some people prefer a darker, more complex rum, while others prefer a light and fruity.
  • Make a frozen raspberry daiquiri. To make a frozen version swap the fresh raspberries for frozen and place all the ingredients in a blender along with 1 cup of ice. Blend until smooth.
