- 1½ ounce Tequila
- 1 ounce Orange LIqueur
- 2 ounces Lime Juice
- 1 tablespoon Agave
- 1/2 teaspoons Activated Charcoal
Prepare the glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass to moisten it. Make sure to evenly coat all the way around the edge.
Dip the glass into coarse salt: dip the rim into a shallow dish of salt, rolling it around to coat evenly. If you want a thicker salt rim, you can repeat this process.
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker: Add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and agave to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake and strain: Shake the contents vigorously and strain the cocktail into a glass filled with ice.
- Activated Charcol - Activated charcoal can be a little messy, so be sure to measure it out carefully and wipe up any spills right away. Make sure to use food-grade activated charcoal in your cocktail. You can usually find it at health food stores or online.
- Don't like tequila? If you're not a fan of tequila, you can also make this cocktail with vodka or gin. Try a Vodka Margarita or a Gin Margarita.
- You can use different options for rimming the glass. To add a little extra kick to your black margarita, try rimming the glass with chili salt or use black salt.
