- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup Water
- 4 sprigs Rosemary
Dissolve the sugar. In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved.
Add the rosemary. Reduce the heat to low and add the rosemary sprigs. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Strain. Let the syrup cool and strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a jar or bottle. Discard the rosemary sprigs.
- Want to cool the syrup quickly? To rapidly chill the syrup, you can either place the container in the refrigerator or set it in an ice bath.
- Looking for a thicker syrup? To create a thicker syrup, increase the amount of sugar to 1 cup and continue cooking the rosemary syrup mixture for an additional 10 minutes until it has reached the desired thickness.
- To store it: It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks, but it's recommended to use it soon after making it for optimal freshness. If desired, the syrup can also be frozen by pouring it into a freezer-safe container and storing it in the freezer. It will stay fresh for up to 3 months when frozen.
