Coffee Ice Cubes

Coffee Ice Cubes are frozen cubes of coffee that can be used to chill and flavor beverages without diluting them. Coffee ice cubes can be added to iced coffee or other cold beverages to add extra coffee flavor and keep the drink cold without watering it down as regular ice cubes would.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Brewed Coffee room temperature

Instructions

  • Brew the coffee. Start by brewing a pot of coffee using your preferred brewing method. You can use any type of coffee you like, whether it's ground coffee or whole beans. Once the coffee is brewed, let it cool to room temperature.
  • Pour the coffee into the trays. Once the coffee has cooled, pour it into ice cube trays. Fill each compartment about 3/4 full to leave room for expansion as the coffee freezes.
  • Freeze: Place the ice cube trays in the freezer and allow the coffee to freeze completely. This typically takes 2-4 hours depending on the temperature of your freezer.

Notes

  • Let the coffee cool. It's important to let the coffee cool before pouring it into the molds or trays. If you pour hot coffee into the ice cube trays, it could cause them to crack or melt.
  • To store the ice cubes: Once the coffee ice cubes are frozen, remove them from the trays and store them in an airtight container or freezer bag in the freezer until you're ready to use them.
  • To easily remove the cubes from the tray: To easily release the coffee ice cubes from the tray, you can run the ice trays under warm water for a few seconds. This will help loosen the cubes and make them easier to remove without causing them to break or stick to the tray.

Variations

  • Flavored Coffee Ice Cubes - Add a flavored syrup to your brewed coffee before pouring it into the molds. Some options to try are Hazelnut Syrup, Simple Syrup, or even Rosemary Syrup.
  • Caramel Macchiato Cubes - Use 1 1/4 cups of brewed coffee, 1/2 cup of milk or cream, and 1/4 cup of caramel. Whisk the ingredients together and pour them into your ice tray.
  • Mocha Ice Cubes - Use 1 cup of coffee, 1 cup of milk or cream, and 6 tablespoons of chocolate syrup. Whisk it together and then pour it into the ice trays.
