Ingredients

  • 1 cup Watermelon cut into cubes
  • 2 ounces Tequila
  • 2 ounces Lime Juice
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec
  • Coarse Salt for glass rim

Instructions

  • Coat the glass rim. Simply take a wedge of lime and use it to run along the rim of your glass, utilizing the freshly squeezed lime juice.
  • Salt the rim of the glass. Spread some coarse salt on a plate or flat surface, then dip the lime-coated rim of the glass into the salt, gently moving it back and forth while applying light pressure to ensure it sticks.
  • Blend the watermelon. Blend on medium to high speed until the watermelon is completely liquefied, and no chunks remain. The smooth watermelon puree will serve as the base of your margarita.
  • Strain the watermelon. Once you've blended the watermelon until smooth, you can take an additional step to strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve. Simply place the sieve over a bowl or pitcher and pour the blended watermelon through it.
  • Shake and strain. Place the strained watermelon juice into a cocktail shaker and add tequila, lime juice, and triple sec. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain the mixture over ice in the prepared glass.

Notes

  • Make it into a pitcher. To make a pitcher of Watermelon Margaritas, blend watermelon, and strain, then combine with tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, salt, and sweetener in a pitcher. Stir and serve over ice.
  • Use fresh, ripe watermelon: Choose a ripe watermelon that is sweet and juicy for the best flavor in your margarita. Avoid watermelons that are overripe or underripe as they may affect the taste of the cocktail.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste: Watermelons can vary in sweetness, so taste your watermelon margarita as you go and adjust the sweetness to your liking. This recipe doesn’t contain a sweetener like agave syrup or Simple Syrup that I like to use in my Classic Margarita, however, if you’d like it sweeter you can choose one.
  • Garnish for visual appeal: Garnish your Watermelon Margarita with a watermelon wedge, lime wheel, or mint sprig for a visually appealing presentation. This adds an extra touch of elegance to your cocktail.
