Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Combine the sugar and water. To prepare the syrup, place the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  • Add the flavoring. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the hazelnut extract or hazelnut liqueur.
  • Let the syrup cool. Let the syrup cool and pour it into your desired bottle or container.

Notes

  • Make it last longer. To prolong the shelf life of vanilla syrup, you can also add a small amount of vodka or other high-proof alcohol to the syrup, which can act as a natural preservative. Simply mix in a teaspoon or two of alcohol for every cup of syrup and store it as directed.
  • Build a coffee bar! If you plan on adding this hazelnut syrup to your coffee bar you might also want to try Brown Sugar Syrup, Rosemary Simple Syrup, or even Strawberry Simple Syrup to make a Strawberry Latte.

Storage Tips

To store vanilla syrup, you should transfer it into a clean, airtight container, such as a glass jar or a plastic bottle with a tight-fitting lid. Make sure that the container is completely dry before adding the syrup to prevent any moisture from getting in, which can lead to spoilage.
Next, place the container in the refrigerator, which will help to preserve the freshness and quality of the syrup. It's important to note that refrigeration may cause the syrup to thicken slightly, but this is normal and can be easily remedied by warming the syrup up before use.
