Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes

Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes are the easy weeknight happy meal the whole family enjoys. These slightly sweet and a little bit tangy fall-apart-in-your-hands sandwiches are a classic dinner.

Ingredients

Sloppy Joe Filling

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • lbs Ground Beef
  • 1/2 cup White Onion diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 8-ounce Tomato Sauce Cans
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoons Worchestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder

Sandwiches

  • 6 Hamburger Buns
  • 1 cup Sweet Coleslaw optional, see notes for recipe link

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Break beef apart using a spatula and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until the meat starts to brown. Add the onion and minced garlic and continue to cook until onions are soft and meat has browned.
  • Place the beef mixture into a slow cooker and add the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, and spice. Set to high for 3 hours or low for 6 hours.
  • If making the sweet coleslaw prepare just before arranging the sandwiches. Using a slotted spoon, scoop the meat onto the hamburger buns and top with coleslaw.
