Equipment

  • Ice Cream Scoop
  • Punch Bowl

Ingredients

  • 28 ounces Lime Sherbet
  • 2 liters Sprite
  • 2 liters Ginger Ale
  • 3 drops Neon Green Food Coloring
  • 2 cups Whipped Cream or Cool Whip

Instructions

  • Scoop the sherbet into a large punch bowl or drink dispenser, working quickly as it will melt.
  • Pour the Sprite and Ginger on top of the sherbet.
  • If using, add the green food coloring and gently stir the punch to mix it in.
  • Top each glass individually with whipped cream or Cool Whip.

Notes

  • Turn this into an adult beverage. This doesn't have to be a beverage for kids. You can easily add some alcohol to really get the effects of the potion. Some great options are rum, vodka, especially flavored ones such as lime, and tequila.
  • If you'd really like to have some fun with this drink you can add some dry ice to your punch bowl. If you're serving this to kids I don't recommend placing any in their drink cup because dry ice isn't to be swallowed. You'll also want to be the one handling it since it requires the use of gloves and tongs.
  • This beverage is best served cold, which means your ingredients will need to be chilled. The sherbet will be coming from the freezer, but keep your Sprite and Ginger Ale in the fridge before adding it to the punch.
  • Make it into shots. You can do this for kids so they have just a small sip, similar to in the Harry Potter movies and books, or you can add alcohol and make it an adult shot.
  • Give it some extra bubbles. Place a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar in the bottom of each glass before adding the potion. This will cause the drink to bubble over the glass, which kids will absolutely love.
  • Serve it in potion glasses. This is just a fun option if you plan on having a party. You can also serve it in these adorable polyjuice potion shot glasses.
