Equipment

  • French Press

Ingredients

  • 75 grams Dark Roast Coffee about 5 tablespoons of ground coffee
  • 2 cups Water

Instructions

  • Add the coffee grounds. Place the coffee ground into the bottom of the French press.
  • Bloom the coffee. Pour the heated water into the French press, but only to the height of the coffee ground. Use a spoon to stir the coffee and water together and allow it to bloom for 1 minute.
  • Steep. Fill the French press to the top with the remaining heated water, leaving enough room to add the plunge on top. Allow the coffee to steep for 4 minutes.
  • Press. Slowly press down on the plunger, separating the coffee grounds from the liquid. Fill a glass or jar with ice (I recommend using Coffee Ice Cubes so the coffee doesn't get watered down) and pour the coffee over the ice.

Notes

  • Plunge slowly. Don't press the plunger too quickly, as this can cause the coffee grounds to mix with the liquid and create a cloudy appearance.
  • Store the brewed coffee in a separate container. Pour the brewed coffee into a separate pitcher or container to prevent over-steeping and bitterness.
  • No coffee grinder? No problem! If you don't have a coffee grinder, you can buy pre-ground coffee that's labeled "coarse grind" for French press.
  • Use Coffee Ice Cubes. To keep your coffee from being diluted from the ice use coffee ice cubes.
