Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Tequila
  • ounce Prickly Pear Syrup
  • ounce Lime Juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec
  • 1 tablespoon Agave optional

Instructions

  • Coat the edge of the glass. To get your glass ready, take a freshly squeezed lime wedge and glide it along the rim of the glass.
  • Salt (or sugar) the glass rim. For the salt rim, pour coarse salt onto a flat surface or plate. Dip the lime-coated glass rim into the salt, gently wiggling it to ensure the salt adheres while applying slight pressure. You can also use coarse salt for a sweeter sip.
  • Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes to your cocktail shaker, then pour in the prickly pear syrup, lime juice, orange liqueur, and, if desired, agave syrup.
  • Shake and strain. Shake vigorously to combine all the flavors thoroughly and strain the mixture over ice in the prepared glass.

Notes

  • To keep the salt from falling off your glass rim use a pastry brush to coat it with agave syrup delicately. This sticky and long-lasting syrup provides a superior adhesion compared to water or lime juice, ensuring the salt sticks.
  • Add fresh lime zest to the margarita salt. Grate some fresh lime zest into the margarita salt before you dip the glass rim into it. This adds extra flavor and visual appeal.
  • Garnish creatively: Elevate the presentation by garnishing with a slice of prickly pear, a lime wheel, or a sprig of fresh mint to enhance the visual appeal.
