Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large Coffee Mug

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • pinch Salt
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Instructions

  • Mix the batter together. Whisk the egg, milk, flour, baking soda, sugar, and salt together in a medium-sized bowl until thoroughly combined.
  • Add the Nutella. Stir in the Nutella until fully incorporated with the batter mixture.
  • Microwave. Pour the batter into a large mug and place it in the microwave for 45 seconds. (Watch the cup as it cooks in case the cake starts to spill over the lid. If this happens stop the microwave and continue to cook it in 15-second increments until the cake appears springy and set).

Notes

    • Don't overcook: Microwave cooking times may vary, so keep a close eye on the mug cake while it's in the microwave. Overcooking can result in a dry or rubbery texture. Start with the recommended cooking time and adjust as needed to achieve a moist and fluffy cake.
    • Customize with toppings: After the mug cake is cooked, add your favorite toppings to enhance the flavor and presentation. This could include a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, a drizzle of Nutella, or some chopped nuts. Get creative and make it your own!

Variations

  • Peanut Butter Nutella Mug Cake: Swirl in a spoonful of creamy peanut butter into the batter for an irresistible combination of chocolate and peanut flavors.
  • Banana Nutella Mug Cake: Mash a ripe banana and add it to the batter for a moist and fruity twist to your Nutella mug cake.
  • Nutella Lava Mug Cake: Place a small piece of chocolate in the center of the batter before microwaving, creating a molten Nutella lava center when you take a bite.
  • Nutella Espresso Mug Cake: Add a teaspoon of instant espresso powder to the batter for a delightful coffee kick that pairs perfectly with the chocolatey Nutella.
  • Raspberry Nutella Mug Cake: Drop a handful of fresh raspberries into the batter to add a burst of tartness and vibrant color to your mug cake.
