Peach Crumble Recipe

Nothing beats a warm and gooey Peach Crumble with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream on a summer’s day. Sweetened with brown sugar and spiced with cinnamon and a hint of bourbon. This easy dessert requires only and is made using fresh or canned peaches as well as pantry staples.

Equipment

  • 8x8 Baking Dish or 10-inch Skillet
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Pastry Cutter

Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 large Peaches or 2 cans of peaches, drained
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Butter chilled and cubed
  • Chopped Pecans optional

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your oven to 375º F and lightly greasing a 10-inch skillet or an 8x8 baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Place the sliced peaches or drained canned peaches into the bottom of the prepared dish and pour the bourbon, if using, on top. Toss to coat.
  • In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon and whisk them together until evenly mixed.
  • Using a pastry cutter or the back of 2 forks cut the cubed butter into the flour mixture until a coarse meal starts to form. The butter doesn't have to be perfectly cut into the mixture.
  • Sprinkle the mixture over the peaches and top with some crushed pecans or pecan halves (optional).
  • Place the dish or skillet into the prepared oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the topping begins to bubble and has turned a golden brown. Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Serving suggestions: Serve with a scoop of ice cream such as vanilla or butter pecan or top it off with some whipped cream and chopped pecans.
  • Add more fruit. A delicious way to change up the flavor is to add more fruit. Turn it into a blueberry peach cobbler or try adding strawberries or cherries.
  • Don't worry about peeling the peaches. If using fresh peaches it’s not necessary to peel them but I prefer to remove the peel myself.
