How to Make Ground Chicken Tacos
- Sauté onions and garlic. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and slightly browned, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Cook the chicken. Add the ground chicken to the skillet and use a wooden spoon to break it apart into small pieces as it cooks. Once the meat is no longer pink mix in the tomato paste, chipotle in adobo sauce, cumin, paprika, and salt.
- Stir in the broth. Pour the broth into the ground chicken mixture and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook until the broth has evaporated, about 1 minute.
- Assemble the tacos. Fill the tortilla shells with the taco meat and top with your favorite taco toppings such as pickled red onions, limes, or avocado.
Recipe Variations
- Use a different meat. Swap the ground chicken for ground beef or ground turkey for a different flavor.
Storage and Freezing Instructions:
- To Store Leftovers: To maintain the freshness of leftover ground chicken, store it in an airtight container. Refrigerate promptly and enjoy within 3-4 days. When reheating, ensure it reaches a safe temperature of 165°F.
- To Freeze: Keep this recipe in your freezer for convenient meals on hectic days. Place the taco meat into an air-tight freezer-safe container and store it for up to 2 to 3 months. When thawing frozen chicken, the easiest approach is to leave it in the fridge for a day.
