Ingredients Needed

Lavender lemonade ingredients in various bowls.
  • Sweetener: you can sweeten this lemonade with your sweetener of choice and I choose to use honey in mine. Sugar, maple syrup, or Stevia are all perfect options just be careful with how much you add. You’ll need more honey and maple syrup to get a sweet beverage than you will sugar and especially Stevia.
  • Lemons: to get the best flavor you’ll want to juice your lemons instead of using lemon juice concentrate or from a jar.
  • Loose Lavender Tea: you will need loose lavender tea to prepare this drink, which you will brew first before adding to the lemonade mixture.

Recipe Variations

  • Use Lavender Syrup. You can prepare the lavender syrup by heating 3 tablespoons of loose lavender tea, 3/4 cup of water, and 3/4 cups of sugar over medium-high heat. Remove from the heat and let steep for 10 minutes before pouring the syrup through a strainer to remove the lavender flowers and buds.
  • Make a simple syrup. Instead of using honey or sugar, you can also use simple syrup. To prepare a simple syrup heat 1/2 cup of water and a 1/2 cup of sugar in a small saucepan until dissolved. Let cool before adding it to the mixture.

Garnish Ideas

  • Fresh Lavender Sprigs: you can place an edible lavender sprig in each glass or top it off with some of the loose lavender tea.
  • Lemon: add some lemon slices to a glass pitcher for a beautiful presentation.

FAQs

Can this lemonade be made ahead?

Absolutely, and I recommend making it the night before you plan on serving it so the flavor continues to marinate together.

Can I add alcohol?

Of course! If you’d like to turn this into a cocktail I highly recommend adding some vodka, dark rum, or even bourbon.

Can I use lavender extract?

No, the flavor will be too powerful if you use lavender extract or lavender essential oil.
