Equipment

  • Espresso Machine or Nespresso Machine, or Instant Espresso
  • Frother optional

Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 shots Espresso or 2 ounces of strongly-brewed coffee
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 6 ounces Milk
  • Cinnamon optional

Instructions

  • Add the honey and espresso. Drizzle the honey around the edge of the glass and on the bottom. Pour the espresso into the prepared glass and stir gently.
  • Steam or froth the milk. Pour the milk into a small saucepan and heat it on medium heat until scalded, but not boiling. If you have a frother you can then froth the milk next or follow these guidelines on How to Froth Milk. Pour the milk into the glass and fill it almost to the very top.
  • Reserve the foam. As you pour the milk into the mug, ensure that you keep the foam from entering by using a spoon. Then scoop out the foam and add it to the top.

Notes

  • Heat the Milk Properly: When steaming or heating the milk, be cautious not to overheat it. Heat it to about 150-160°F (65-71°C) for the ideal latte texture. Use a milk thermometer if available.
  • Frothing Milk: If you have a milk frother, use it to froth the milk. This will create a creamy and velvety texture. If you don't have a frother, you can shake the milk vigorously in a tightly sealed container or use a whisk to create froth manually.
  • Add some flavored syrups. To sweeten or add flavor to your latte you can mix in a flavored syrup such as Hazelnut SyrupVanilla Syrup, or even a Simple Syrup.
  • No espresso machine? For an authentic flavor, use an espresso machine, or opt for convenience with a Nespresso machine. If you prefer a rustic touch, a robust dark roast brewed in a French Press does the trick. When time's short, instant espresso makes for a quick and easy substitute. Enjoy your lusciously creamy brew!
