Equipment

  • Espresso Machine or Nespresso, or Instant Espresso
  • Frother optional

Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 ounces Espresso
  • 6 ounces Half & Half

Instructions

  • Pour in the espresso. Pour the prepared espresso into the glass first.
  • Steam or froth the half & half. Pour the milk into a small saucepan and heat it on medium heat until scalded, but not boiling. If you have a frother you can then froth the milk next or follow these guidelines on How to Froth Milk. Pour the milk into the glass and fill it almost to the very top.
  • Reserve the foam. As you pour the milk into the mug with the espresso shot, ensure that you keep the foam from entering by using a spoon.
  • Add the foam. Scoop the foam on top of the latte.

Notes

  • No half & half? Should you find yourself without half & half, a suitable substitute can be easily created by combining equal parts of whole milk and heavy cream.
  • Add some flavored syrups. To sweeten or add flavor to your latte you can mix in a flavored syrup such as Brown Sugar Syrup, Vanilla Syrup, or even a Simple Syrup.
  • Add a topping. You can add some Whipped Cream (especially Cinnamon Whipped Cream) for an extra indulgent drink and then drizzle some additional caramel sauce on top.
