What I Love About This Recipe

  • Perfect fall drink. Apple Sangria shines as a delightful seasonal drink, capturing the essence of crisp autumn apples and warm winter spices, making it a perfect choice to toast to the changing seasons.
  • Make it ahead. It is an excellent choice for making ahead, as its flavors actually benefit from some time to meld together. By preparing it in advance, you allow the fruits, spices, and wine to infuse, resulting in a more harmonious and flavorful blend.
  • Great for a crowd. It is an ideal choice for serving large crowds because you can prepare it in advance and make it in batches. This ensures that you have a consistent and delicious drink for everyone to enjoy.

  1. Marinate the fruit. Place the sliced apples and oranges into the bottom of a large pitcher and sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon on top. Allow the flavors to sit and marinate for 20 minutes before moving on to the next step.
  2. Prepare the sangria. Add the red wine, brandy, apple cider, lemon juice, and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher and stir the mixture together. Let it sit in the refrigerator for 6 to 24 hours before serving.

Recipe Variations

  • Coat the glass rim. For added flavor and a nice presentation coat the rim of your glass in water and then dredge it into cinnamon sugar.
  • Top it off with club soda. Enhance the sangria’s flavor profile by incorporating a splash of club soda. Its unsweetened effervescence pairs wonderfully with the sangria, adding a delightful fizzy dimension to the drink.
