Maple Old Fashioned

Experience the enchanting fusion of bold bourbon and the comforting embrace of pure maple syrup in our Maple Old Fashioned. Made using high-quality bourbon, a touch of bitters, a delicate infusion of maple syrup, and garnished with a twist of orange peel.

Adding a touch of Maple Syrup is my favorite way to sweeten recipes in the fall and fall cocktails are an absolute must when the weather starts to turn crisp. I love a twist on a classic cocktail like this one or indulgent ones like the Pumpkin Pie Martini or Toasted Almond Drink.

What I Love About This Recipe

  • Rich and Robust Flavor: The combination of bourbon and maple syrup creates a deeply flavorful and satisfying taste that’s both sweet and bold.
  • Perfect for Whiskey Lovers: If you love whiskey, this is a delightful way to explore new dimensions of your favorite spirit.
  • Unique Twist: The addition of maple syrup gives the Old Fashioned a unique twist that sets it apart from other cocktails making it reminiscent of fall and perfect as one of your Thanksgiving Cocktails.

How to Make a Maple Old Fashioned

  1. Mix the cocktail. Add the maple syrup and bitters to a cocktail mixing glass and top with ice. Pour the bourbon over the ice and stir to combine.
  2. Strain. Strain the mixture into a glass and add a large ice cube.
  3. Garnish. Take a vegetable peeler or a knife, and extract a 2- to 3-inch segment of orange peel. Infuse the drink with its zesty essence by gently twisting the peel, then garnish your beverage with this vibrant twist.

Recipe Variations

  • Add cherries. I often like to add a Luxardo cherry for garnish. They have a thick syrup. To avoid overly sweetening your cocktail, tap or rinse off the excess syrup before adding the cherry.
