Ingredients Needed

Halloween pancakes ingredients.
  • Flour – You’ll need all-purpose flour for Halloween pancakes, but if needed, you can substitute it with gluten-free measure-for-measure flour to accommodate gluten sensitivities without compromising on taste or texture.
  • Pumpkin – Use pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie mix. Pumpkin puree provides the pure, unseasoned pumpkin flavor that’s ideal for pancakes
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice – To infuse your pancakes with that classic pumpkin flavor, you’ll want to include Pumpkin Pie Spice in your recipe.
  • Milk – You have the flexibility to use either whole milk or a non-dairy milk alternative, depending on dietary preferences
  • Candy Eyes – To create the adorable blackberry spiders for your Halloween pancakes, you’ll need candy eyes. These small, edible decorations add a fun and spooky touch to your pancake spiders.

How to Make Halloween Pancakes

  1. Whisk the dry ingredients together. In a mixing bowl whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, and salt together until combined.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients. In a separate mixing bowl mix the pumpkin puree, milk, eggs, maple syrup, and oil together until fully mixed.
  3. Combine the two mixtures. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients in. Mix the two together until well combined, some lumps will remain.
  1. Cook. Spray a non-stick pan with cooking spray and heat it over medium-high heat. Using a ladle, pour the batter onto the pan, making small or medium-sized pancakes. Cook the pancakes until the edges start to dry and small bubbles appear on the surface. Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional minute on the other side.
  2. Make the icing. In a mixing bowl whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together until a smooth consistency forms. Pour the icing into a zip-top bag and snip a very small piece of the bottom corner for piping the icing.
  3. Decorate. Pipe an icing swirl on each pancake, starting in the center and going all the way to the edge. Use a toothpick to draw lines from the center of the swirl to the edge to create the spider web look. Place two tiny dots of cookie icing onto each blackberry and adhere the candy eyes to the blackberry. Add them to the pancakes.
